About

I am a Linguist who has always had an interest in ASL. My educational path began with an Associate Degree in Sign Language Interpreting. During this program I had the pleasure of attending Deaf Way II in Washington D.C. which was a truly amazing experience. But instead of entering the field at that time, I wanted to pursue an in depth study of language. I went on to get a BA and then an MA in Linguistics with emphasis in teaching English as a second language (ESL). As a Linguist I studied child language acquisition and second language acquisition and did research on universal properties of the signed languages of the world. For a few years, I taught ESL Reading, ESL Writing, and ESL Conversation classes to college students; but I greatly missed American Sign Language. Now I am considering returning to the field of Interpreting so that I can be involved in the Deaf community and its beautiful language.
